Best for: food lovers who spend most on dining and groceries.
4x points at restaurants worldwide and at U.S. supermarkets (up to yearly caps), and 3x on flights booked directly with the airline. Points transfer to Amex's airline and hotel partners. The dining and Uber credits help offset the $325 annual fee if you use them.

Best for: frequent travelers who want lounge access and simple earning.
2x miles on everything, and more on hotels, rental cars and flights booked through Capital One Travel. The $300 yearly travel credit and 10,000 anniversary miles more or less cover the $395 annual fee, and you get airport lounge access plus a Global Entry or TSA PreCheck credit.

Best for: your first travel card.
A $95 annual fee, 3x on dining and 5x on travel booked through Chase Travel. Points transfer 1:1 to airlines like United and Southwest, which makes it the easiest way to start collecting points that can book real trips.
